Charter
Mission
Inspired by St. Carlo Acutis, we are a network of parents united in building community, raising awareness, and sharing insights as we navigate complex and personal decisions about devices and digital media in an effort to protect and preserve childhood.
Guiding Principles
- Supportive Collaboration: Parents lead the initiative, with encouragement and logistical support from the school.
- Faith-Driven: Rooted in Catholic teaching and the example of St. Carlo, who used technology to evangelize and glorify God.
- Community-Oriented: Building connection and fellowship among parents navigating similar challenges.
- Respectful and Non-Judgmental: Recognizing that every family’s approach to technology may look different.
- Awareness-Focused: Raising consciousness about the benefits and dangers of digital media.
Membership
- Open to all parents and guardians in the [School Name] community.
- Participation is voluntary.
- Members are invited to participate in events, initiatives, and meetings.
- There is no membership fee; events and resources are made available freely, supported by volunteers.
Leadership
- Parent-Led Steering Team: Responsible for planning activities and guiding the local chapter.
- School Liaison: A designated school representative (faculty or staff) serves in a supporting, advisory role (not as a leader).
- Committees: Volunteers may form committees for specific events (e.g., Book Clubs, Speaker Nights, Family Challenges).
Activities and Programs
Activities are designed to be easy, meaningful, and community-driven. Examples include:
- Guided book clubs or discussion series.
- Organized group pledges such as “Wait Until 8th.”
- Faith-centered initiatives like digital fasting during Lent or Advent.
- Showcasing family-friendly tech solutions.
- Learning opportunities centered around St. Carlo Acutis.
- Prayer services and family faith formation related to technology use.
Partnership with the School
- The school provides support by offering space, helping to communicate opportunities, and encouraging participation.
- The school respects the SCPN’s identity as a parent-led group and does not direct or manage SCPN initiatives.
Our Patron, St. Carlo Acutis
We look to Saint Carlo Acutis as a model of holiness in the digital age — a young man who embraced the gifts of technology while maintaining discipline, humility, and deep faith. Like St. Carlo, we seek to glorify God through our choices and to teach our children that technology is a tool to be mastered, not a master to be served.
